I can't believe it's been over 5 years since I last posted on here! Even more amazing, is that my blog is still sitting here just like I left it. A lot has happened in the last several years. Maybe I'll make it back to fill you in before another 5 years passes.

Homeschool Rally at the Statehouse - SC
Homeschool Rally at the Statehouse - United to Preserve Our Freedom
Where: SC Statehouse (North Side @ Front Steps)
Date: Thursday, February 21, 2013
Time: 10 AM - 12 PM

It has been made clear by Brannon and Horne that they plan to pursue changes to our current homeschool laws; they are not on our side. We made quite an impression last week, and by going ahead with a "homeschool freedom" rally we can send the message that our homeschool laws do not need any additional restrictions.
*** Friends, our statewide homeschool community has been strongly united by the proposal of H3478. It is exciting to see the impact we can make when we work together to protect our freedoms. We must not lose sight of how easily our rights can be taken and we must remain watchful, diligent, and involved to continue to protect our freedom.**
Here are the details for the rally:
Parking: Metered parking is on Assembly Street, Sumter Street, and Main Street. There are also several parking garages on Park Street.
Dress: There is not a dress code for this event except to dress in a respectable manner. If a homeschool group or family wishes to wear matching shirts, that is perfectly acceptable, but not required.
Signage: If you wish to bring signs to the Statehouse, they must be handheld. The Statehouse does not allow signs to be staked into the ground. It is best to use short, to the point, slogans. "Protect Homeschool Freedom" or "No to H3478" are good examples. Please feel free to share your great slogans on the FB page.

Is my blog title accurate?
I titled my blog Tammy's Times thinking I would record much of what was happening in our lives. I thought our friends and family would be able to follow along no matter how far away. Instead, I have found that I don't seem to have the "Time" to update it very often. Maybe someday soon I'll figure out what to say and how to say it. Until then, I hope you have a great "time"!

School's Out!?!
Is it true? Are we really done with another year? Yes, we are! Friday was our last official day of school! We have decided to continue schooling lightly throughout the summer. As for a strict schedule, forget it. Now it's time to start preparing and organizing next years curriculum. Ugh, I guess I still have work to do. Wish me luck. I hope everyone has a great summer!

Jobs for America!
If we buy American, we'll create a need for more American workers. Jobs in the USA = Made in the USA! Here's a great place to start:

Annual Update
Hi! I just wanted to let you know that we're still here. Maybe when all the kids are in college I'll find time to maintain this page. LOL Until then I'll try to keep an eye on any comments.

Spring Fever
I'm not sure who has spring fever worse, the kids or myself! We've been working on a garden & can't wait to get it all in. It's our first one in about 4 years & the kids are excited. My daughter is waiting impatiently for the sunflowers to come up.
We're working on finishing up the school year and hope to be done in a couple weeks. I'm thrilled with how much they've learned this year & how independent they've become. They want to do more workbooks next year. That's fine with me because it'll mean less work for me. I'm looking at getting them AOP Lifepacs. My daughter wants me to hurry up & order them so she can start on them over the summer. Don't these kids know what summer vacation means? Just kidding, I'm tickled that they enjoy learning.
I still need to find more hands on activities for my 9 year old son. He likes building things, electrical stuff, anything to do with pipes, wires, wood, or science. I found a few things online that I know he would enjoy but they are so expensive. Any tips would be great!
Well, it's time to grade their math.

2009
Happy New Year! I plan to really start working on this site soon. I'm not sure how everyone finds the time, but with my family spread all over the U.S., I know this could become a fun way to connect.

Homeschooling bump already
We started school Monday! The kids couldn't wait to get at their new books, school supplies & balance scales. It's Thursday and the thrill is over. We still have to get in another 176 days. I have a feeling this may be a long school year! I know if I keep it fun it works so much better. They learn more when they think they are playing. It's just that somedays I just want to say do your school work. They like it best when we have a lot of hands on stuff like science labs. Maybe we'll bake some cookies today and double the recipe. They love that kind of math & reading assignment & so does their daddy!

I decided maybe it's time for me to give it a shot. So here goes, I'm going to go think of something funny, interesting or helpful to write. So come back soon & see if I can live up to the bloggy standards. If you have any advice, feel free to sound off. Have a great day!
